Board Members
Meet the dedicated individuals who lead Boston Gaymers and work to support our community.

Matthew "Matt" Vincent (He/Him)
Co-Founder/Board President
Matt is one of the original co-founders who got Boston Gaymers off the ground in 2017. While he spends his days working as a software engineer, his real passion has always been bringing people together. His goal was simple: to make Boston Gaymers a place where every LGBTQ+ gamer could feel safe, find their people, and forge lasting friendships.
Born and raised right here in Massachusetts, Matt’s always had a bit of a leader in him—he was even the youngest patrol leader his troop in Mendon had ever seen. That desire to help and lead has been a constant in his life. He’s blown away by the incredible community BG has become and is excited to be a part of its bright future.

Juliet "Jules" Rodriguez (She/Her/Hers)
Clerk/Director
A fierce advocate and community builder, Jules brings her passion for gaming and LGBTQIA+ equality to her leadership roles at Boston Gaymers. Born and raised in Massachusetts and now based in Haverhill, she champions intersectional rights both online and offline.
Jules is no stranger to transformative leadership: she previously spearheaded a groundbreaking coed fraternity/sorority as President (founded by an Omega Psi Phi member) and has shared her insights as a guest panelist across numerous community discussions.
Known for her authenticity, strength and resiliency as an Afro-Latin trans woman, Jules empowers others as a trusted confidante, creative artist, and dedicated gamer. When she’s not moderating our Discord realm, you’ll find her building connections that make our community shine.

Phillip Purvis (He/They)
Treasurer/Director
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Phillip has lived in an assortment of places ranging from Brookline just outside Boston to South Beach, Miami, and Orlando, Florida.
Phillip has been administrating for several groups since the conclusion of college in 2017. Helping people has always been very dear to his heart, he has volunteered for numerous conventions in both an in-person and remote support capacity. Boston Gaymers has been a place where most of his friends have been made over the years, providing him with a safe, welcoming community.
While his skillset primarily resides in making maps, he very much enjoys administrating and number crunching. As such, Phillip began working with Boston Gaymers to manage their funds and streamline the payment systems. This continues to remain important as Boston Gaymers utilizes merchandise to raise funds and moves into more spaces, both online and in person.
Phillip is a big Disney nerd who happens to also be a former cast member! He loves theme parks, travel, and also enjoys hiking and the outdoors.

Kara Mongell (They/Them)
Brand Director
Kara is a passionate advocate for queer joy and is honored to serve on the board of Boston Gaymers. Their dedication to the cause stems from trying to find community when they felt like they had none. Since joining BG in 2020, they contributed to BG through efforts like supporting visual graphics and setting up events as a member then Final Boss before officially joining the board. Through their role as a Brand Director, their goal is to evolve the brand and identity as the nonprofit grows to ensure a bright and lasting future.
And while they may not have been born in Massachusetts like some, they were raised here from 1 year old (so it counts, right?). As a trans nonbinary queer and deaf person, their drive is to uplift and empower queer people who need it most and ensure everyone has a space to be themselves and have fun. Kara spends their day working as a UX Designer and by night, becomes a goblin playing games on their PC or watching TV marathons.

Dana Murphy (He/Him)
Director
Born in Massachusetts and raised in the Midwest, Dana returned to the state in 2016 and is happy to consider Boston his rediscovered home. His experiences in leadership through his day job and volunteer efforts in student housing programs instilled a passion for building community. In order to make lasting change, Dana is committed to empowering community members and building connections that will last a lifetime.
Dana believes in the power of our actions to make queer joy flourish in Boston. He found his niche in Boston Gaymers through the organization's stream presence on Twitch. Our voices amplified with a platform make tremendous impacts: as part of Boston Gaymers, members of our community have found space to share their stories, talents, and joy through online broadcasting. Over the years, these volunteer efforts have raised over $40,000 for LGBTQ+ advocacy groups that improve Boston life.
In his free time, Dana enjoys watching science fiction, trying new restaurants, and going to concerts.

Austin Bailey (He/Him)
Co-Founder/Emeritus Member
As the creative force behind Boston Gaymers, co-founder Austin was the visionary who shaped the look and feel of our community from the very start. From designing the original logo and color scheme that are now a core part of our identity, to building our first digital home on Discord, his artistic touch was essential in bringing BG to life.
A lifelong Massachusetts resident who grew up in Boston and went to school in Newton, Austin brought a unique energy to the team. With the same focus and drive that powered him through marathons in his youth, he poured his passion into organizing and building BG. His creative fingerprint is on everything we do, leaving a lasting mark that will define Boston Gaymers for years to come. He is forever proud of these contributions and the incredible, positive effect they have had on our community.
